June 2018 Break

The new school year doesn't officially begin for us until July.  However, I turned in records today. Time to take a deep breath.  I don't enjoy breaks because we are creatures of inertia.  We need to keep moving because when we stop is just too hard to get back on track.

So.  We may have a month's break, but we keep moving.

Since I have a preschooler again, I have am really excited about crafts and messy learning.  I was at a homeschooling convention this week when I thought about how much I thoroughly enjoy messy projects, and I decided that even if I have high schoolers, if we can't get into whatever we're studying, I'm breaking out some clay, glitter, or glue.  Maybe all three with some paper mache action.

Today, my rising 2nd grader worked on fractions while making slime.  He then worked on division because, of course, it was not regular slime, but unicorn slime; thus, it was at least three colors.  And there are three of us.

My preschooler got to work on textures and colors.  She also got to work on her ability to handle sticky stuff on her hand, to which she is generally adverse.

I learned how to clean slime out of hair because eventually, the unicorn slime ended up underneath that hat.

We also did a lot of reading today.  Perhaps the next month will be filled with a lot of reading.  Supposedly, that's all you need for a preschool curriculum.  Personally, I need more glitter in my life.
