Seven Days of School: September 2018

September 20, 2018

This is what happens when the neonate kittens grow into cats who don't understand why you don't drive them around with you everywhere anymore.

Some days, we feel better than others, and we put a lot into those days. Some days are a less great, but we use those, too. I love curling up and reading with my babies. We are currently on Mummies in the Morning.

We finished Mummies in the Morning and began a geography book. I am toying with the idea of spending the next few years learning about every. single. country. At least some tidbit. Since we just finished Mummies in the Morning, we located and colored in Egypt.

Vulcan wanted in on the lesson, but gave a less enthusiastic response when told he could not participate on the counter.

We recently bought some Terra by Battat figurines from Target. We have used slime (I know some people use dyed rice) to create different habitats from the PS to explore. She loves the textures, the stretchy, and deciding which animals go in water, stay on the ice, or go under water.

We enjoyed critters so much the day Flo came through that we went out searching again. I believe the word is obsessive when it comes to how the kids feel about any and all frogs.

I, on the other hand, am much more intrigued by chrysalises. And there were so many.

On clean up crew we found different fungi- Witches Brew and Turkey Tail.

As part of the PS's therapy, she is learning to put things in categories. She began lining up dinosaurs by herself, as they are now going to live in the barn.

Even before the rain cleared, we threw on raincoats and went outside because we had just about had it with the great indoors. We found all kinds of critters. And then, we went in, took baths, and made cookies.

After reading The Magic Tree House: Mummies in the Morning we had to build our own pyramid. We each got to have our own chamber where we wrote our names in hieroglyphics, designed a sarcophagus, and put our hand-crafted mummies. The fourth chamber, we made into a passageway.
